It is natural to be frightened of things sometimes, but when our fears interfere with our ability to live a normal life it can be valuable to work with a therapist to address the issue.

Sometimes a phobia can develop following a traumatic experience, other times a phobia can seem irrational but all too upsetting.  Careful work with a psychotherapist to support increased feelings of safety, and to address the anxieties and terrors that are underlying the phobia process can lead to the phobia diminishing and reducing in intensity.
