Psychotherapy and Counselling

Many people find benefit in working with an experienced and well trained Psychotherapist when they are finding life challenging.  Often clients can feel relief from their immediate issues within six to ten sessions.  Many people then choose to continue their personal development, so that they can meet life differently in the future.

For Individuals

The Porchlight Practice offers psychotherapy and counselling to individuals in one to one sessions and groups.  All individuals who are seeking support begin by working one to one with a UKCP registered psychotherapist; for most people this is the may their therapy will proceed until they feel ready to conclude the work.  Some people may wish to resolve their issues with the support and insight of a group of peers and for those we also offer regular group psychotherapy.

For Couples

The Porchlight Practice offers psychotherapy and counselling to couples to help improve relationships and to resolve problems.

For Teenagers and Families

The Porchlight Practice can offer psychotherapy and counselling to teenagers to help them to resolve and address issues that maybe concerning them and their parents.  This work is always be done in collaboration with parents.  We can also work with the whole family as a group to support families to communicate better and to manage difficult times.

 

Location

The Porchlight Practice is located at 122 Highgate, to the right of the main entrance to the Brewery Arts Centre in Kendal.  The entrance is within a yard, the blue doors of which face the main road in between the road entrance to the Brewery and the pedestrian entrance (beside the youth hostel).

There is a pay and display car park at the Brewery Arts Centre and there are usually spaces free.

Costs:  One to one or couples psychotherapy or counselling happens in one hour sessions at a cost of £50 per hour.  Many clients experience relief of presenting symptoms after six to ten sessions.  Professional supervision costs £50 per hour.  Training courses are developed bespoke for clients and costs vary.

The Porchlight Practice reserves a number of sessions each week to be offered at lower cost to those on low incomes.  If you feel this describes your situation then please discuss this at enquiry.
